IRS PHONE SCAM WARNING Just received this information from Scott Levitt. What the bad guys won't think of next. IRS Phone Scam Warning IRS Scam Warning With the April 15th tax filing now just about a week behind us, we thought now was a good time to pass along a fraud warning directly from the IRS. Perhaps your clients could benefit from this notice as well. It seems that people nationwide have been receiving calls from criminals pretending to be IRS agents. Often they will leave urgent callback requests and once they have someone on the phone will intimidate the victim into making immediate payments. Don't be fooled. Keep in mind this information from the IRS: 1. The IRS will never call to demand immediate payment, and they will never call without first mailing a bill. 2. The IRS will never demand you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they claim you owe. 3. The IRS will never require you to use a specific payment method such as a prepaid debit card. 4. The IRS will never threaten to bring in law enforcement groups to have you arrested for non-payment. 5. The IRS does not use email, text messages, or any social media to discuss personal tax issues involving bills or refunds. Beware that the elderly, recent immigrants, and those who do not speak English as a first language are often the most targeted in these scams. If you've been contacted by one of these scammers or even victimized, you can report the experience online here: http://ift.tt/1oZjLFZ

Had a great day today. Met with a client today, who has become a dear friend, at Denny's to help her with some paperwork. We talked for 3 hours and had a great visit. Left with a smile on my face that has lasted all day. She is such a wonderful person; beautiful on the outside and it goes all the way through. I feel blessed to call her friend.

Have had an amazing weekend. Friday night a friend asked me to go to the Ranch Rodeo with her (I had never seen this type of Rodeo) and we had a great time, and to tell the truth I enjoyed it much more than a regular rodeo. There was one team of very young kids (6 - 10) that were something else. The youngest was riding a really great roping horse that was so responsive; set him up on a calf and just stuck to the calf like glue. Loved the whole western attitude of the place. Prayer, our flag and the National Anthem sung by a very young lady who did a great job of it. Saturday I manned our Lemonade booth during the Horse Week Parade and meet great people while I watched the parade roll by. So many wonderful floats and great horse groups that I am sure my grin was from ear to ear. Last night join dear friends at the San Bernadino Performing Arts for Starlight Express. Delightful production and the singing was first class. We had a great time. I am now officially thrashed and vegging but still smiling.

SICK OF RENTING? Does your landlord quickly handle maintenance issues? Are your neighbors quiet and courteous? Do people in your building take pride in the upkeep of common areas? Most of the renters I’ve talked to say “no” to every one of these questions. They also feel like they have no choice but to put up with the inevitable inconveniences of renting-- noise, strange odors, lazy maintenance. Many have a hard time imagining exactly how they’ll escape the “rental trap.” If you feel this way, I’d like to extend a friendly introduction and invite you to have a conversation about how you might become a homeowner. You see, I specialize in helping people make the transition from renting to owning. There’s a lot of misinformation out there about buying a home. Great opportunities exist for first-time buyers, or previous owners who now want to leave their renting nightmares behind. Even if you’re not in a position to consider home ownership right now, I can definitely provide you with some advice and resources to get you on the right path. (Imagine the satisfaction of knowing your rent check isn’t going into someone else's’ pocket!) If you’re curious how I can help make home ownership a reality for you, send me email at sharon@sharonshepherd.com or give me a call at [909-223-1094]. There’s no obligation. Even if you’ve just wanted to ask a real estate agent a few questions, I’d be more than happy to help.

This is a bit out of left field but - maybe a clever and sensible idea. I am just not sure I would feel comfortable washing my hand of a toilet bowl even if it is hands free. Let me know what you think. Conserve Water with Sink Positive Sink Positive toilet topper Ever wondered why we flush our toilets with the same water that we use to take showers and boil pasta? Even if you're using a low-flush toilet, the water your home flushes adds up to thousands of gallons a year. Sink Positive has an ingenious way to both save water and promote hygiene. From the website: "SinkPositive is a retrofit for your toilet lid that turns it into a sink, delivering a clean, environmentally friendly, and touch-free hand wash with every flush. It's simple to install, and even easier to use. By rerouting clean water from the supply line, the water runs through the faucet for a touch-free hand wash and then drains directly into the bowl. The reuse of this soapy water to refill the bowl helps in saving gallons of water each day, as well as promoting hygiene and breaking the transmission of diseases." Given that millions of people across the U.S. are facing historic drought conditions, making use of this "greywater" is more important than ever. Check out Sink Positive online. It's an affordable and eco-friendly upgrade for any bathroom: http://ift.tt/15yBdW9
