NEAT TIPS FOR REUSE AND RECYCLING A client of mine was recently preparing her house for the market and in the process of cleaning out the garage began to wonder if there were ways to keep more stuff out of the landfill through reuse or recycling. She found some great ideas online. Since I know you care about the environment, too, I thought you might find these three tips interesting: Did you know you can bring those styrofoam peanuts to pack-and-ship stores? They’re happy to reuse them. Not only does it cut down on the new packing materials they have to order, but it also keeps them out of the ground for the next million years! Don’t recycle wire clothes hangers. Reuse is a much better option. Dry cleaners will take back wire hangers just like shipping stores will reuse styrofoam peanuts. Keep wine corks out of recycled wine bottles. Not only do the corks cause problems for recycling centers (they have to get them out of the bottles), you’re missing out on an opportunity for the cork to be put to good use. Even natural corks don’t compost well. Many liquor stores and wineries have a barrel handy for wine corks, and the cork is recycled into flooring material, sandals, and other durable barriers.
